Danish Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine policy on non-therapeutic male circumcision (DASAIM).
Danish Society of Anaesthesiologist’s Policy on Non-Therapeutic Male Circumcision (DASAIM)
“We consider circumcision of boys a surgical procedure that should be exclusively be performed on medical indication. Good clinical practise in this context will be general anaesthesia combined with sufficient per- and post-operative analgesia. DASAIM is of the opinion that circumcision of healthy persons requires informed consent i.e. an 18 year age-limit.” (Translation by Intact Denmark)
DASAIM has participated in The Danish Patient Safety Authority’s development of brief and guidelines on non-therapeutic circumcision of male minors. In relation to this proces DASAIM has raised significant criticism of The Danish Patient Safety Authority in consultation responses as well as in the media.
